Explanation/Outline of Project:
The intention of my project is to create a digital maybe interactive tour/walk outdoor museum set in Preston. This would be set around approximately 18 pieces of public art, which would link to historical events and famous Prestonions.
I plan to make the history of Preston more accessible through this new media and in doing so open it up to a wider audience. Context/Rationale:
As I worked on the Citybrand website and am from a digital background the rationale is to bring the Citybrand Project and the historic facts uncovered into the age of new media.
As Preston is hosting the Guild in 2012 I feel this would be a good way to get people interested in Preston’s history and what has been uncovered thus encouraging people to visit and take more of an interest in Preston as a city. Key Areas of Research:
Exploration of other city’s and historical towns and how they portray historical facts, including museums buildings and interest points.
I plan to start by researching city’s such as:
- Liverpool
- Manchester
- Bristol
- York
- Paris
- Dublin
I plan to analyze what other the other towns and city’s have done and draw from their experiences of what worked and what lessons have been learnt.
Intended Outcomes of Projects:
When considering my personal learning outcomes the key factors will be to learn new processes and techniques. Build on my existing knowledge and gain further skills from a variety of mediums.
As it’s very early within my research I plan to keep an open mind to what my research will uncover or in fact where it will take me.
